Create professional-looking graphics easily with this tool!

Canva enables students to create professional-looking graphics. That's the bottom line. But with any tool it is how it is used of course. Often less is more and sometimes students can get carried away with a million different fonts and colours, but at least there are a range of templates that sometimes only need the minimum of modification for great effect. It can be frustrating for students to choose a background or element that is not free (presuming you're on the non-premium version!) and end up with a 'Canva' watermark on their graphics. So definitely make them aware to choose only free elements! Downloading is a breeze but of course you can always screenshot the relevant graphic if you are so inclined to do so. After a while students will be pleased to have Canva in their repertoire - as a teacher you'll probably find it useful too!

Great for creating impressive slide decks and infographics

I personally love using this tool to create my own presentations, handouts, tweetable images and infographics, Students really enjoy using it when they want to get information across with a bit of personalization and/or creativity. Due to the age limit, I only use it with secondary students and when I do, its often an option where they can choose to use it or other creation tools. Many students choose Canva.

Make a graphic designer out of a novice.

I love the ease of use and access. It's free and easy to use and get students using in the classroom. I love that my students have the option to create digital media without having to pay hundreds of dollars getting graphic design tools that professionals use when they are only starting to explore. Students seem to take to the app in a snap and want to use it again (which is a huge plus)

Great Graphic Organizer

The product was easy to use once students had signed up and went through the orientation. I liked the program because students needed little explanation provided to them as long as they were given time to explore how to use the program. I believe that it could be used in a multitude of ways and hope to use it more. I hope to use it as a KWL where students continue to add to the poster/canva as the units develop and will have a final product in the end to find all of the resources they may need for further tasks.

The must have free software to create brilliant graphic designs

If it was not for the upload your own images feature of Canva, I would not be able to recommend this product. That being said, you can use your own backgrounds, images, and designs that are saved on your drive already. Canva makes it easy to import and imbed them with in-app cropping and editing options. Canva has images and graphics that are free and paid, but that is what creative commons images are for.

Great design app/website that is easy to use!

I think this is a great teaching tool for a few reasons. I liked it because students are able to create their own poster with individuality, and you can download them to print if needed. I love that the images included are ones that will not break copyright rules, and are safe for students to search without going elsewhere. When we were finished with projects they looked very professional and something students were proud of. One of my favorite new tools!

Great design app that makes novices look like a pro!

If you are wanting to appeal to your visual learners then Canva is a great tool to help you accomplish this goal! I love how easy it is to drag and drop images or icons that are right there in the app, but still have the freedom to upload images of my own. The only downside to Canva is that some of the images and/or layouts are at a cost. Most are around .99 so it's not going to break the bank to download that but over time it does add up. Still, there is so much to love about Canva that I don't focus much on the paid content because there is still so much to do for free.

Empower Learners to be Creative Graphic Designers

I love this as a tool to create public products, especially for elementary students, giving them an opportunity to explore and create visual design genres such as posters, cards, print ads, along with graphics for presentations, video and web. It is a super simplified version of Photoshop and is free. It has both an app and web version. The design school offers tutorials and templates that help learners get started, and I like how it offers free images, icons, and clip art as well as an upload option for own images. I've used it with learners as young as first grade, and they easily navigated the platform. The biggest challenge was helping them understand file formats, saving and importing to other platforms (social media, video, etc).

After you install, the tutorial teaches you everything you need in 63 seconds!

I like it because as you install, it makes you go through the tutorial so you are not guessing at how to use the app. I have students install the app themselves so they will have guided practice on how to create their pages. I save time in classroom instruction because they learn as as they install. All basics are advertised in the first 63 seconds with a hands-on activity that allows them to see all aspects of what the app can do for them.
